June 30 Wine All You Want event to benefit library foundation

$15 per person to be donated to Henderson Libraries Foundation; money to go toward purchasing materials for collections at all Henderson libraries

HENDERSON, Nev.  – Local restaurant group District Tavern Group will host a special Wine All You Want tasting event at its newest restaurant, Presidio, Thursday, June 30, to benefit the Henderson Libraries Foundation.

The Foundation has made it its mission to raise $1 million by April 2012. The money raised through its $1 for a Million campaign will go directly to fund the purchasing of materials for the collections at all six Henderson Library branches.

“In a down economy, library use naturally goes up,” said Tom Fay, executive director for Henderson Libraries. “Unfortunately, in a down economy, library funding significantly decreases, since it is so dependent upon sales and property taxes. We are grateful to the District Tavern Group for hosting this event to help us reach our goal of $1 million raised by April 2012.”

The Wine All You Want event, which costs $30 per person, will take place from 6-8 p.m. For $30, patrons will enjoy four wines from around the world. Presidio will donate $15 from every entry fee to the Foundation. Attendees who decide to stay for dinner will receive 15 percent off their food order.

“It’s the community’s support that keeps our restaurants successful,” said Pete Kaufman, president and partner of District Tavern Group. “Henderson Libraries does much for the community, so we felt it was our duty to support them and their efforts to raise extra funds.”

Presidio is a part of The District at Green Valley Ranch, which is located at 2235 Village Walk Drive near Green Valley Parkway and the 215 Beltway.

The $1 for a Million campaign encourages library users to donate at least a dollar to the foundation every time they visit the library. Statistics show 60 percent of users visit the library at least twice per week. In addition to giving at any of the library locations, patrons can give online and via text.

District Tavern Group offers 24-hour hotspot at The District for locals

District Tavern Group presents Presidio in public grand opening Dec. 4;

Kaufman’s background in gaming allows DTG to understand needs of local players

HENDERSON, Nev. Every city needs a hotspot, and District Tavern Group partner Pete Kaufman is well on his way to making The District Henderson’s place for fun, friends, fair gaming, good food and drinks.

District Tavern Group’s restaurants – Al’s Garage, Balboa Pizza and the newest member, Presidio – are all located in The District and provide that convenient, 24-hour atmosphere Henderson residents desire to catch the game or a late night snack or sip on a cocktail as the sun goes down – or when it’s coming up.

“The District is a great hotspot for locals during ‘business hours,’ but, until recently, it didn’t offer that nightlife people are looking for,” Kaufman said. “People in Henderson want a night and evening hotspot close to home, and we’re giving them that.”

Kaufman’s gaming background has allowed the District Tavern Group to truly understand the value of local players, and Kaufman makes it a top priority for the company’s three restaurants to all offer a fair game and friendly comp guidelines.

Presidio (formerly Kennedy’s) is the newest edition to District Tavern Group and is set for its public grand opening at 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4. The event will include live music, complimentary appetizers, happy hour food and drink specials and two-for-one Orange O signature cocktails.

Located next door to Al’s Garage, Presidio has been enjoying its soft opening in recent weeks but is ready to bring the breeziness of San Francisco to the desert with a mix of light and hearty California fare, signature Orange O cocktails and an atmosphere suitable for a quiet dinner on the patio or watching the game with friends. Presidio offers an outdoor patio with fire pits, daily happy hour specials, game-day events, after-hours convenience and customer service with a slant towards California-style casual gourmet dining.

Kaufman saw the opening of Presidio as an opportunity to invest in the place he calls home.

“We understand that this is a down economy and there are many struggles in our industry. We are not immune to any of these issues; however we are locals who want to invest in our neighborhoods,” Kaufman said. “We want to give an opportunity to the local workforce as well as provide an affordable place to enjoy friends and family. We look at the opening of Presidio as a long-term addition to the economy and marketplace.”
